Couch Gallery Exhibition
- In the Spring of 2014, Tanya Horn and Ian Scanling opened the small but interesting Couch Art Gallery on Broad Street in downtown Victoria. Unusually, for Victoria, they chose to show works in a variety of media and that of both new and established artists. A case in point: they asked to show a selection of my most recent life drawings. This exhibition was hung in February 2015.

- Since moving to Vancouver Island in 2002, I've been content to live day to day, luxuriating in retirement: reading good books, engaging in stimulating conversations, taking long walks. My wife, however,doesn't seem to know the meaning of contentment...nor retirement. So, at her urging/insistance I've occasionally found myself in a studio, graphite or aquarelle in hand, capturing a live model on paper. Some results of this exercise are displayed here.
Something Different
- In the autumn of 2012 my wife and I were staying at the Burn in Scotland. One afternoon I found the flat leathery remains of a frog that had died and been run over, let's assume in that order. I was quite taken with the wee shrunken corpse, and memorialized it a series of sketchbook drawings [Sketches#1-4].
- In 2015 Couch Gallery challenged me to produce 10 works in a 10" X 10" format. At my wife's insistence, the Frog Project sprang to life. Hence these 10 paintings - acrylic on canvas board, all 10" X 10", each unique. And completely different...
